About This Website:
This is my website for AP Lit in which I will attempt to analyze, interpret, and conceptualize literature. I hope that this website will allow me to document my growth as a reader, writer, and learner, and answer difficult questions about life and the pursuit of knowledge. My website will include a variety of blog posts that will chronicle my attempts at understanding topics raised by various authors.
About ME:
Oh hey! Funny seeing you here! My name is Jessie Dietz. I have an irrational fear of cabbage patch kids, am a self proclaimed meme connoisseur, and cry 24/7. If I'm not making memes or crying, you can probably find me at a debate tournament or at a BBYO event!
My parents forced me into debate my freshman year, and ever since, it's been an intrinsic part of my identity. Debate is the most intellectually stimulating activity I've ever engaged in, and I can honestly say it's the activity I love more than anything else in the world (besides maybe BBYO). There's something about being in round, arguing the intricacies of governmental policy and complex philosophical theories, that just really butters my eggroll. Debate provides me with a tangible platform to see all of my hard work pay off, and it has given me the opportunity to truly challenge myself intellectually.
As almost every single one of my teachers discovered last year, if I'm not debating, I'm probably at a BBYO event. I joined BBYO at the beginning of my Sophomore year and in the middle of a deep personal crisis. Somehow, I decided it would help me to join a Jewish youth group, and to this day, I still have no idea why. But thank god for that weird, convoluted 10th grade logic because BBYO is the best thing that’s ever happened to me. It's given me my best friends, my home, and a place where I truly belong. Since joining BBYO, I have become a happier, stronger, and more confident person, and I can finally say I am proud of the person I am today. This year I will be serving as my chapters N'siah (president!) (see the picture above to see me with two of my chapter's past Nsiot after being elected!), and I am insanely excited and honored to be able to lead the chapter that I love so much.
Although I am involved in other activities, debate and BBYO are the two most formative and meaningful activities I participate in. To truly understand me as an individual, it is important that you understand how much I care about these two activities. I probably work harder at debate and BBYO than anything else in my life because they are the two things that bring me the most joy and fulfillment. I hope that this website and this about me page will help you understand more about me not only as a reader and writer but also as an individual!
